Description

The 1956 Chapel and the Gergely Pongrátz Memorial Museum on the road leading to Szeged commemorate an event of world historical significance. With his more than thousand fighters, the legendary rebel commander of the 1956 revolution took up the fight with success against the powerful Soviet army for several days. The news about their heroic resistance was admired by the whole world and largely contributed to the breaking of communism. The visitors can pay their respect in the chapel in front of the Commander’s tomb, and learn about the world famous deeds of the heroes of freedom in the museum across the street.
